I didnt do anything shockingly.
Took it to a place that “specializes” in Hondas to have a new CMC put in. I shit you not, 8 hours later it’s on a tow truck headed to a dealer because the clutch is destroyed, the slave cylinder is dead as is in the CMC.

Sounds like they specialize in D series cable clutch setups?
Hope the shop makes it right for you.

It looks good, but I didn’t like how numb it feels compared to earlier Hondas. I’d DD one, but not have one as my fun car.

Something similar happened when I owned the Hyundai. Clutch pedal was feeling “crunchy” and I could tell that the CMC needed to be replaced. (It had an internal return spring that I figured broke. After I had it out, I took an X-Ray at work that confirmed it.) Bought and installed a new one, bled the system, and then on the first trip more than a mile the pedal got stuck to the floor. I limped it back home, bled it again, and then when I tried to drive it barfed quart of brake fluid all over the ground. Turned out the slave cylinder was getting old too and couldn’t handle the fluid pressure after I bled it. That was inside the bell housing, so it went to the shop on a flatbed and suddenly my $200 repair turned into a $1,700+ one. The clutch was at like 10% so I had it replaced too while everything was apart. I’m not sure how much of the wear was from trying to drive with the bad CMC and dead slave. Fun fact - Korean and US manufactured CM Santa Fe’s have different output shaft splines and therefore require different clutches. For the first few months of sales, Hyundai imported of Santa Fe’s to help meet demand while production in Alabama was maxed out. If you are one of the unlucky souls with a K-VIN manual CM Santa Fe like I was, you need a rare clutch/pressure plate kit imported from Korea for around $1000. The normal US one is like $250.
